Docent Mathias Klang, LL.M., Ph.D. (klang@ituniv.se)
Mathias currently works as a Docent (Associate professor or Reader) at the University of Göteborg and the University of Borås. His research explores the ways in which technology regulates us and the ways in which we attempt to control technology.
Among his current research projects are:
(1) a study of Death, Mourning and Grieving within social networks.
(2) the impact of mobile technology and social media on reading and the book market.
(3) Social media in relation to critical infrastructures (emergency services, healthcare, police)
In general he has a particular interest in social media, copyright, democracy, human rights, free expression, censorship, open access and ethics. He has published several articles in these topics.
Among his work is a co-edited volume (with Andrew Murray) entitled “Human Rights in the Digital Age”. In addition to this he defended his PhD thesis “Disruptive Technology” in October 2006. Mathias has been a Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science, a visiting researcher at the University of Trento and has worked as a legal expert dealing with questions of copyright and Open Access at the University of Lund.
